The Star Stud Cuff is a rigid open band in 14k gold plated brass finished with midnight blue glitter enamel. Seven raised studs sit at intervals around the band, each engraved with an eight pointed star and set with a black diamond. It is a rigid open band that slides over the wrist.
The eight pointed star is one of the oldest celestial and devotional figures, found across Mesopotamian, Hermetic, and Victorian ornament as a sign of guidance, regeneration, and the meeting of heaven and earth. Carried around the wrist as a repeating motif it reads as a small map of the night sky, long tied to navigation, fate, and cosmic order. The midnight blue is the night sky the stars are set into. Black diamond is valued for strength and protection.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles. A multiple award winning designer highly recognised as an accessory and jewelry designer, her work has been featured in Vogue, W Magazine, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle across numerous countries, and carried by the world's most prestigious luxury stores including Lane Crawford, Bergdorf Goodman, H Lorenzo, United Arrows, Isetan, Le Bon Marché, Matches, and Harvey Nichols. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection, alignment and healing.
