The Star Stud Cuff is a rigid open band in 14k gold plated brass finished with hand painted white enamel. Seven raised studs sit at intervals around the band, each one engraved with an eight pointed star and set with a natural ruby. The open band slides over the wrist.
The eight pointed star is one of the oldest celestial figures, found across Mesopotamian, Hermetic, and Victorian ornament as a sign of guidance, regeneration, and the meeting of heaven and earth. Carried around the wrist as a row of seven it gathers a second old meaning, since seven has long stood for completeness and for the seven classical planets, a number read as a figure of wholeness and inner order. The rubies set at the center of each star bring the note of vital force and protection.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection and alignment and healing.
