The Star Collar is a rigid open neck collar in 14k gold plated brass, a torque style neck ring that follows the line of the throat and opens at the back. Small star stations are set along the front of the band, one with a blue sapphire, as a star with it's dust of white diamonds and them 3 other stars with black diamonds.
The star is one of the oldest celestial figures, carried across ancient and Victorian ornament as a sign of guidance, fate, and the order of the heavens. Set in a line along the collar the stars read as a small map of the night sky drawn at the base of the throat. The blue sapphire holds the deep color of that sky and brings the note of truth and constancy, while the black and white diamonds mark the other stars as points of dark and bright light, shadow and illumination held in the same band.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection and alignment and healing.
