Two serpents in sterling silver wound around the finger, their bodies worked in engraved scales, the two heads meeting at the top of the band. One head is set with a marquise blue sapphire and white diamond eyes, and the other head is set with ruby eyes.
The serpent stands for transformation and renewal, shedding its skin the way we shed what no longer serves us. Two serpents wound together carry that meaning doubled, an old sign of union and of protection kept close on the hand. The blue sapphire stands for wisdom and truth, the ruby for vitality and courage, the white diamonds for clarity.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles. A multiple award winning designer highly recognised as an accessory and jewelry designer, her work has been featured in Vogue, W Magazine, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle across numerous countries, and carried by the world's most prestigious luxury stores including Lane Crawford, Bergdorf Goodman, H Lorenzo, United Arrows, Isetan, Le Bon Marché, Matches, and Harvey Nichols. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection, alignment and healing.
