The Star Stud Cuff is a rigid open band in 14k gold plated brass finished with blue glitter enamel along its length. Raised studs sit at intervals around the band, each one capped with enamel and set with a small emerald in an engraved eight pointed star mount.
The eight pointed star is one of the oldest celestial and devotional figures, found across Mesopotamian, Hermetic, and Victorian ornament as a sign of guidance, regeneration, and the meeting of heaven and earth. Blue enamel has a long place in this language, the color of the heavens and of the deep, used in devotional and occult ornament to stand for the celestial realm and the passage of time.
The emerald has been prized since antiquity as a stone of insight, renewal, and the heart, associated with truthful sight and protection and worn historically as a guard against deceit.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Courtney Cox, and Uma Thurman. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as spiritual armour, modern talisman, and contemporary relic, made for protection, healing, and spiritual alignment.
