The Purify The Heart Bangle is handcrafted in gold plated brass and finished with hand painted black enamel. The inscription "Purify the heart and the infinite light will dwell within" is worked in relief lettering around the band, and a heart charm hangs from the bangle, set with a ruby. It is a rigid bangle that slides over the hand onto the wrist.
When the instruction was given to build a sanctuary, the words were make Me a sanctuary and I will dwell within them, not within it, and the reading has always been that the dwelling place is a person and the sanctuary is the heart. The infinite light is not distant and does not need to be summoned, for it fills all and no place is empty of it. What keeps it out is not distance but unlikeness. The light is nothing but giving, and a heart that wants only for itself stands opposite to it in form, and that opposition alone is the concealment. Purifying is the refining that reverses it, the same word used of silver in fire, and what is burned away is not the wanting but its direction, so that the heart which took becomes the heart which gives. Form then matches form, and the light dwells there, uncovered rather than granted, having never been elsewhere. Ruby is the stone of the heart and of the blood, worn for the courage.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection, alignment and healing.
