The Star Sphere Twisted Bangle is handcrafted in 14k gold plated brass and finished with hand painted black enamel. The band is worked as a twisted braided rope and carries a single dangling sphere charm patterned with stars, set with white and black diamonds. It is a rigid bangle that slides over the hand onto the wrist.
The sphere is the whole of the created world held in one form, and the stars set across it are the points through which light enters it, so what looks like a small closed body is in fact pierced everywhere by what is above. The white diamonds are that light revealed and the black diamonds are the same light concealed, the two set together because neither exists without the other. The twist of the band is the braid, two lines held as one, the sign that what is above and what is below are bound and cannot be separated.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection, alignment and healing.
