The Bow Collar is a rigid open neck collar in 14k gold plated brass, a torque style neck ring that holds its shape around the throat and opens at the back. Three Victorian bows sit across the front, each set with natural single cut diamonds and finished with an aged patina against the polished band.
The bow is a long standing motif in Victorian jewelry, a knot tied as a sign of devotion, union, and a bond that holds. Set as three across the front of the collar the bows carry that meaning of binding and connection.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection and alignment and healing.
