The Diamond Pearl Heart is a solid silver puffy heart with an aged patina, the domed face set all over with small star mounts holding alternating diamonds and seed pearls. The heart hangs from a silver paperclip chain that closes with a lobster clasp and measures 29 inches, 74 cm.
The heart is one of the oldest devotional symbols, carried through Victorian sentimental jewelry as a sign of affection, memory, and protection of the bearer. Scattered with stars across its surface it joins the language of the heart to that of the night sky, the field of guidance and fate. The diamonds set within the stars bring points of clear light, while the seed pearls add the soft lunar note of the pearl, purity and the tides of feeling held among them.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection and alignment and healing.
