The Jaguar Cuff is handcrafted in gold plated brass. The band is modeled as a row of jaguar heads that circle the wrist, their faces textured with hand worked spots and their eyes set with rubies, and the two largest heads meet nose to nose at the opening. It is an open cuff that can be gently adjusted to fit.
The jaguar is the ruler of the night, the animal that sees in the dark and moves between the visible world and what lies beneath it, carried as a sign of power held under control and of protection for the one who wears it. Ruby is the stone of the heart and of vitality, worn for courage and for the inner fire, and set here as the eyes it gives the animal its sight and its life.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection, alignment and healing.
