The Virgin Mary Necklace carries an oval Miraculous Medal in solid silver with an aged patina, the figure of the Virgin framed by the Latin inscription Monstra Te Esse Matrem, set at the base with three square rubies and a round diamond. The medal hangs from a gold plated figaro chain that closes with a lobster clasp.
The inscription, Monstra Te Esse Matrem, show yourself to be a mother, is drawn from an ancient Marian hymn symbolize maternal protection, intercession, and grace, the guardian who watches over the bearer. The ruby is a stone of vitality, courage, and the heart, worn as a guard against harm. Meanwhile the diamond symbolize clarity, endurance, and protection.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection and alignment and healing.
