The Star Sphere Drop is a lariat necklace in silver. A solid silver sphere finished with hand painted black enamel hangs at the end of the drop, set with white diamonds in star mounts across its surface. The chain meets at a star station set with a black diamond at the front, from which the sphere falls in a Y line down the chest. The necklace closes with a lobster clasp and measures 18 inches, 46 cm.
The sphere is one of the oldest figures of the cosmos and of wholeness, a form without beginning or end carried in devotional and ceremonial objects across many cultures as the world rendered as an orb. Set with stars it reads as the night sky, the field long tied to guidance, fate, and the order of the heavens.
The white diamond has been associated since antiquity with clarity, endurance, and protection. The black diamond, the same carbon in darker form, has been read as a stone of grounding and steadiness, worn for fortitude.
J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Courtney Cox, and Uma Thurman. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as spiritual armour, modern talisman, and contemporary relic, made for protection, healing, and spiritual alignment.
